So I have been on LugolsIodine (Dr. Huldha Clark version - 890 mcg Iodine in half a drop 1780mcg in one drop, strength is 2% granular Iodine in 1 fl. oz), for around three weeks. I think I may have increased the dosage too fast, I got up to 32040mcg (approximately 3mg) for the past four days and started to experience kidney pain, headache, slight flu symptoms and tiredness more than usual.
I was drinking approximately 3.5 liters of water a day (this is standard for me), but I heard its good to flush the kidneys with more water and salt so I took an extra 500ml of water with 1/8 tea spoon of Sea Salt and 2,000mg of buffered vitamin C - twice a day.
As standard I take 3,000mg buffered vitamin C everyday. My kidneys still hurt and I am worried. I don't think its my adrenals that are sore, they use to get sore when I drank caffeine but I stopped that a few months ago and they have never been sore since. I don't know whether to continue the iodine on a lower dose, at the moment I have stopped for two days. I understand the kidneys are fragile and I don't want to mess them up! I have been wondering whether it is kidney stones, but I heard they hurt like hell and it isn't that sort of pain, its more like a dull but persistent ache.
Lastly I was taking L-Methionine to break up Cadmium (which was discovered by my environmental doc), I have been taking 500mg a day, for the past month and a half, I experienced flu symptoms for a week or two, they subsided a while ago, but I am still taking the L-Methionine. I have also started to use a portable infrared sauna, for general detox reasons for the past two days, just wondering how this might help or hinder...
