Re: Update on teenager supplementing
Unrefined salt put in empty capsules or in water, juice or some salty food in a pinch will take the headache away too. The new odor, headache plus many, many other symptoms are all detox symptoms. (
http://www.breastcancerchoices.org/bromidedetoxsymptomsandstrategies.html) I have my daughter, 12, on 50mg iodoral. But to be truthful, it has been a couple of months since she's actually taken it. Now she's started middle school and has to get to school earlier there's barely enough time for her to get dressed and eat, let alone take pills. She hates taking any kind of pills, btw. So it's just another battle in the morning that is usually forgotten. I really need to get her back on them and tomorrow I'll try it when she gets home from school in the afternoon. Even though when she took the iodoral regularly last year, her breast and menstrual pain improved greatly. She's had the following detox symptoms: BO, headache, "heaviness" in the chest, bladder spasms.
I picked up a capsule filler and some empty gel caps and filled about 50 salt capsules at a time and toss them in the vitamin pill tower. When I dole out her iodoral and other supplements, I give her a couple of salt capsules to take. I learned that trick from someone who was having a hard time drinking the required salt water. It works for her, even though she gripes about more pills to swallow. I put my salt (about 1/2 tsp) in a BIG glass of water, about 16 oz, so the water tastes like really bland broth. With my weak adrenals, the water is tasty to me.
