Re: Lakanto
I've had a number of different
Antibiotics that should have worked if it was just SIBO. All they ever did was make things worse. I didn't arrive at candida lightly. I've systematically ruled out pretty much every other possibility, and I doubt I would react to magnesium supplements and B-vitamins (especially biotin) the way I do if it wasn't candida. I don't know what strain it is, but I doubt it's any other type of fungus. The only other really common one that I know of is aspergillus which is usually very, very serious (as in "you could die" serious). However, I think it's screwing with my thyroid and thyroid issues can cause gastrointestinal motility issues, which in turn can lead recurring overgrowth in/impaired clearance of the SB. This could explain why nothing ever seems to reach my colon in time to do any good. Just a thought.
Good call re the comprehensive stool analysis, though. If I had known that it was going to drag on as long as it has, that's one of the first things I would have done. And if I don't have any success in the immediate future, that'll be my next move. Regular stool tests from hospitals haven't picked up anything. But they're really no good at all.
