Re: Anyone with thyroid symptoms but tests are normal?

To get a better picture of what your thyroid is doing, you need the Free T3 and Free T4 test, RT3 and the antibody tests AG Tb and anti-tpo. If your T4 is not getting converted to T3 properly, you'll have high RT3 value and have hypo symptoms. If your ferritin values are low (below 50) then, if you're taking any thyroid meds, the meds are not going to get to the thyroid. I don't know what low ferritin does to the thyroid of folks who aren't taking meds, but I would imagine that it would inhibit conversion.

Adrenal fatigue can cause thyroid problems too -- T4 being converted to RT3 instead of T3. What's your basal temperature ? If it is below 97.8 in the morning and consistently low during the day -- never reaching 98.6 in the afternoon, then suspect thyroid problems. If your sex hormones are all wacked out because of Merina, then adrenal fatigue is highly probable. A 24hr saliva cortisol test will tell you how bad your adrenals are. Janie's site: Stop The Thyroid Madness (see link below) has a link for adrenals and gives you 3 quick home tests you can do to determine if you might have adrenal problems. Adrenals need lots of vitamin C, unprocessed salt, b-complex and vitamin A, magnesium.

Endocrinologists are probably the worst doctors to see for a thyroid problem. If they diagnose you hypo, they'll push synthroid on you. If you're diagnosed hyper, then they'll push radioactive Iodine to kill the thyroid or insist you need surgery to have your thyroid removed. And, they usually don't believe in Adrenal fatigue.

Iodine is the first supplement you want for a sluggish thyroid. Selenium and l-tyrosine work together to help convert the Iodine to thyroid hormone. If you are Iodine deficient, and you probably are, then you are toxic with bromine and fluoride. Iodine will help push out the bromine and fluoride. Unprocessed salt will help push out the bromine. Swanson's vitamins has 2oz of 2% Lugols for about $11. Iodoral is another good option. Aim for about 50-100mg of iodine daily. Symptoms of bromide detox are metallic taste, headache, heaviness in the chest, fatigue. For the complete list of bromide symptoms:

This site will give you lots of information on hypothyroidism and arm you with information to take to the doctor to get the right tests run.

Be sure to get your vitamin D level checked. Low values affect how your body produces hormones, and affect your immune system.
