Believe me Wombat, I am my own best doctor. When something goes wrong with me or my family, that search bar becomes my friend and I weed through information and learn every day.
I live in NY and I am sure there are some good doctors here but I am not so sure they are knowledgeable about iodine. I have a very good ND and when my thyroid tested low, he wanted to give me some supplement that I was not interested in. After a few months of iodine, I mentioned it to him the next time I went and he told me "You can't ingest iodine".
I just let it go at that. He is good in other ways and has his good points, as does some other doctors in the area and I use them for what I see fit.
Maybe eventually I will take a loading test but for now my body talks to me and tells me what I need. I think everyone on this forum contributes good information and I am thankful to have found the forum so I can teach myself what I need to know about supplementing iodine.
