Re: FDA, no, the law needs to change.

uchihaMadara,
part of the reply from your Senator, who states.........

"the claim on this product (Walnuts) doesn't meet the requirements to make the claim; and claims that the product will treat, PREVENT, or cure diseases are not allowed on food products".

.........just reveals that he/she is in denial or he/she is ignorant.

There are numerous Scientific studies that validate the health benefits and prophylactic use of many food products.........................

"Life Extension magazine has published no fewer than fifty-seven articles that describe the health benefits of walnuts, each article supported with copious scientific references".
And, "the National Library of Medicine database contains no fewer than thirty-five peer-reviewed published papers supporting a claim that ingesting walnuts improves vascular health and may reduce heart attack risk".

I don't agree with you in that the Law needs to change; what really needs "changing" and "overhauling" is the FDA itself who only seem to act in the interests of Corporate America, and does little if anything to uphold and support the reasons for its very existence in the first place: protecting consumers.
