Re: Sudden Symptoms and then the Lightbulb!!
I did the exact same thing. I switched from iodinized salt to
Sea Salt , stopped eating out as much and started eating a lot healthier but had been feeling worse over the years. I couldn't figure out why. I was on thyroid meds and stopped taking them because they weren't completely resolving the problems. Then I started iodine. It has been a rocky road and very difficult trying to find the right dose but here's what I did. I started with low doses of Iosol for a couple of weeks and then after a loading test I started right away with 50-100 mg for three and a half months. I went through a lot of detox hell but it was no different taking 50mg compared to the 1800 mcg in Iosol. I eventually came to a point when I went hyper on 50 mg but kept on anyway. Then I started to feel hypo, gaining weight couldn't think straight, exhausted etc. I cut back severely and then was having problems so I went back up to 50 mg for awhile but I want to try for another pregnancy so I went back down and switched to a couple of drops of nascent
Iodine a week as well as eating dulse. If I take too much
Iodine a couple of days in a row I feel hypo so for me I need to watch how much I take (could be that at a certain level I start to detox again, not sure what's happening with that). Anyway, this routine seems to be working really well. To sum up, I think the higher doses were very important in the beginning for detoxification (I'm sure I probably have lots more to do) but I did feel I hit a point where it was too much for my thyroid. Everyone is very unique though and some people do better starting lower especially if the detox is too much to deal with and some people are maintaining at much higher dosages with no problems. I have Hashimoto's too so that may throw a kink in the works. You'll probably have a lot of experimenting to do. What is the
Iodine you are thinking of taking?
