It's my understanding that you should start slow. On an empty stomach & an hour away from anything else, do one drop in water first day. Then you can add another drop every day.
> magnesium and selenium (reqd for uptake) are two keys to minimizing reactions to iodine
I take a lot with never a reaction but some people have reactions with one drop. It's better to start slow just in case.
from my notes -
Halogen Imbalance Syndrome (HIS) is real and requires larger dosages, the lower halogens use the way of the kidney to leave the body and can cause some detox symptoms, below is the protocol most recommended from the audio programs in “Consequences of Iodine Deficiency”.
The four Halogens are (heaviest to lightest) Iodine, Bromine, Chlorine and Fluorine the nature of these beasts is for the lighter ones to displace the heavier ones. So Fluorine could push the other three out of the way and it would take massive dosages of the heavier ones to eliminate Fluorine again.
- 50mg or 8 drops of Lugol’s Solution for 3 weeks to 3 months
- 2x1500 mg of Ester C, to help the body absorb the Iodine and push out the lower halogens, taken at least 1 hour away from the Lugol's
- 1 tsp of Salt, Celtic or other natural salt to help the kidneys push the lower halogens into the urine
- After this only 12.5mg or 2 drops of Lugol’s Solution daily for maintenance
Dr. Flechas, body saturation of iodine, can be achieved with 100 mg/day for 6 weeks, then reduced to 50 mg/day.
