CPAP Machine Concern

Iíve just recently been diagnosed with mild sleep apnea and have gotten a CPAP machine and am trying to get used to it. I have contacted the sleep tech a couple of times because I think the machine is not set right or may be malfunctioning. I am at a very low pressure. I think 6. I do not use the ramping and the C-flex has been disabled. The machine still fluctuates. Every few seconds there will be what I can only describe as a surge or pulse of pressure. Itís very distracting and has been impossible to get used to. It really interrupts the flow of breathing. It was my understanding that a CPAP puts out a continuous steady flow of air. Iíve searched websites, blogs, etc. and have seen nowhere that anyone else says anything about this. The sleep tech keeps telling me that this is normal. This is my first experience with this but it just doesnít seem like it is to me. Iím taking the machine in to the clinic again on Wednesday to try to show the tech what Iím talking about. I get the feeling she is irritated with me and has already made her mind up that Iím just being difficult. Iíve not had any problem with the mask itself. Itís not the most pleasant, comfortable thing in the world, but I donít get claustrophobic with it on. I have severe Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and over the last year have had to wear a respirator quite a bit. So Iím fairly used to having something weird on my face. And the pressure is not high enough to really be an issue as to the breathing. I donít have any problem with exhaling against the flow of air. But this intermittent surge of air really bugs me. Has anyone else had this same problem? Is this just something normal that I will have to adjust to or is it possible there is something wrong?
