Regarding "fixing the hole", that analogy basically means, if you have a leak no matter how much you try and dump water out with a bucket, you can only do so much to save the ship from sinking without fixing the cause of the problem. In my post, I was referring to the leaky intestinal permeability as the hole, and adrenals/liver/head/neurological/autoimmune type inflammation/ food allergies /sensitivities, etc. are secondary. Treating the secondary symptoms are required many times and useful and sometimes very necessary but ultimately you're going to have to plug up that hole somehow, "close the front door", whatever analogy to stop the problem. I thought of the analogy like so: Taking adrenals glandulars supplements, sometimes adaptogenics, etc. is very helpful and sometimes necessary, as is dumping out water out of a sinking boat. But soon enough, you'll realize that no matter how much you upload water and try and upload your burden, it will just keep coming back and that is when you need to address the cause.
