Re: Questions for veteran hypos
Hi angie,
Sorry I can't help you with your levels - I don't have a copy of mine to compare. I'm in Victoria and am taking a t3/t4 combo from a doctor in Melbourne. I also get DHEA and natural progesterone prescribed by him. If you're in Vic I can give you his name or failing that I suggest you could e-mail the Women's Health Advisory Service in Sydney and ask if they could recommend you a doctor in your state. The WHAS is something that was initiated by Sandra Cabot (author of "The
Liver Cleansing Diet" amongst others) I think. This was how I got into natural hormone replacement to begin with, I e-mailed them looking for help after an ordinary doctor had said to me that my problems were probably just hormonal and if so there was nothing I could do about them.
I do feel better physically sometimes to a large extent but it does vary a lot. At least I don't have an overpowering need to have an afternoon nap every day any more, but the replacement hormones have not alleviated my
Depression - which I think really stems from the fact that I am stuck at home with two children aged 2 and 3. My low thyroid function was detected when my second child was 7 months old. I was appalled at the way my "pregnancy brain" would let me down. It has improved now to the extent that I don't feel like I am drifting around in a fog any more, but this may also be due to the fact that I have done 25
Liver Flushes in the last 18 months.
I definitely don't feel as good as I used to (before children). The ordinary GP's just keep offering me anti-depressants which I am too frightened to take (did you see the story about Paxil they did on Four Corners?). One thing that does help me is SAM-e, something I just get from the health food shop.
My plan is to continue the liver flushing. The benefits so far have been: significant reduction in pressure in the right ribcage area; significant reduction in momentary sharp pains in front and back of right ribcage area; significant reduction in weight over 18 months (40kgs); no more need for asthma medication and significant reduction in hay fever type allergies.
Sorry I couldn't offer much in the way of hope. Good luck to you.
