 I agree w Gina. Might want to look into (among other items/issues noted in link) some compression stockings:

Compression stocking can help reduce edema by constricting blood vessels improving venous return.  This takes the pressure off the blood vessels reducing their leaking.

Drawback is that they don't address the cause of the problem and can actually mask it.  The edema is a symptom saying something is wrong.  It could be something relatively benign like valve damage, or it can be something more serious like kidney issues.  Looking for the cause would be a good idea just to make sure that something serious is not going on.
