My feet and legs have been swollen most of the time for about 6 weeks, a little less in the mornings. 'the only other time in my life they have been swollen is during pregnacy - And that was a long time ago.
I think it's inactivity, and have been more active for a couple of days and the swelling is down this morning. The thing that concerns me is what if I'm wrong and it's from something else. I have no other symptoms. Charly
Inactivity will play a role since the lymphatic system removes the excess water and the lymphatic system needs activity to move since it does not have its own pump.
Since it was sudden onset this rules out valve damage. You mentioned in your other post that drinking more water is helping, which sounds more like too much sodium and/or not enough potassium. If you are sitting is a chair a lot this can also contribute not only through the inactivity, but this can also compress blood vessels or pinch nerves allowing blood to pool in the lower legs. The pressure on the blood vessels from the pooled blood allows fluid to leak in to the surrounding tissues causing edema.
