Political Correctness
If the world dropped all the political correctness that is making more and more borders, rather than safe zones, there would never be any insults to take. The "sock" value would be lost but as long as we take the victim approach the polarity remains. There is a 2 part process in insults. The sender and the receiver. If the receiver doesn't take the insult, none can ever be made.
However what I often see is that is suits agendas to blow up comments into big insults. We see the Zion machine use this to further their agenda. Many walk on egg shells provoking attacks and then go..."see...see they did this to me."
Personally, I think it is hilarious as a white male being called a "cracker." Now I can even choose what type of cracker I am. Ritz all the way baby. ;-)
Sometimes I think people look for things to be offended about. Much of society has a victim nature. When we can laugh at ourselves, and take no more offense at peoples words, how would that transform us and the world?
For instance how empowering would it be to take back the swastika and make it mean something other than what it does now/ Instead of leaving it as the symbol of hate it has become we could turn it back into a symbol for the sun or something else that may be positive. Many want to hold on to these victim club symbols. Why is that?
That said, I support all gay rights. I also support being able to laugh at ourselves. Do the latter and we are all strengthened in the process and we literally transcend the polar dance of insuter/insultee.
If someone has intent to harm with words and you laugh at that by shifting meaning, what does that do? If it doesn't get the reaction they are looking for it literally collapses the game and changes it into something else.
Notice that you and I are making humorous comments to each other in another thread. It is healthy.
The term "lighten up" has a lot of deeper meaning when applied to these kinds of things.
