As I understand it, rolled oats are avoided for those with a gluten intolerance because the oats are produced in the same places that wheat products are. In my opinion, one can get away with eating oats if one has a gluten intolerance. But, those with celiac, Gluten allergy, will not be able to get away with it, just a sniff of gluten makes them severely ill.
I have gluten intolerance but can eat oats, and do so daily for my breakfast and have no reaction.
