I can't remember how I came across the e-patient article other than somehow I landed on The Society for Participatory Medicine. I read a few pages, then printed it up and kept highlighting it with a marking pen.
I had no idea patient-driven online medicine was getting so much respect or that it was creating an unstoppable cultural revolution. Also, some of the statistics were very encouraging and empowering.
What was striking is that social scientists are taking this revolution seriously and that practicing medicine will never be the same. Doctors don't have the secrets locked in a little box. They will have to create partnerships with patients or lose them.
