I feel as if I may have liver flukes for two reasons: pain and sensations of movement in my back, and seeing the tomato-skin-like pieces through liver flush.
However, after reading all of the available technical data, including that on the CDC's website, it is my understanding that we can't get these in the US because the snail vector isn't present here. And I haven't traveled to the countries where flukes are prevalent.
So how are we acquiring these if they can't be found in the US? I can envision picking up one or two on imported food, but they shouldn't be able to reproduce. Comments on this would be appreciated.
