I have asked about blasto and d. fragilis and the office said they've treated both in the past. I'll keep what you said in mind if/when I eventually speak with her.

It's my understanding (and I could be wrong) that they do the lab work directly at UCLA opposed to sending it out. And luckily, it looks like my insurance covers her services.

Fingers crossed the GI doctor will refers me. Waiting for his phone call as we speak.
