Re: Update on my experience with the Triple Therapy
Lineup: Thanks for your response. I really appreciate it.
Just a quick update on the triple therapy treatment so far. Again, I'm taking the first line of treatment - Secnidazole, Diloxanide Furoate, Bactrim DS and Doxycycline.
I just finished up day 5 of the treatment. My sinus issues continue to get better. I can breathe out of both nostrils; however, I still get popping in the ears and have sinus pressure headaches. I feel like I have more energy then I used too and I seem to be thinking much more clear then usual. Not much has changed in my stomach. I'm getting a ton of gas after meals and throughout the day. My stomach continues to gurgle and makes noises. My bowel movements were little to none in the beginning. Now they are very dark, long and skinny and quite frequent. I still have pain in my lower stomach and below my ribs, which I believe is due to the gas. The medication has made my body feel very weak. I'm easily able to manage day-to-day stuff but I physically feel weak.
After reading Lineup's response, reading up on SIBO and seeing my body's response to the meds so far, I continue to lean towards the strong possibility of SIBO.
I'm having my doctor order me the rifaximin. I have really good insurance but for some reason, I'd have to pay the full deductible for the hydrogen breath test. My doctor said he would be willing for me to try the medication w/out the test so I wouldn't have to pay high fees out of pocket.
My question for the forum: How long after the completion of the first line treatment should I wait to start the refaximin?
Cheers,
Brian
