Just to go over, I was taking around 12-15mg of potassium Iodine and kelp for about 3 months and I gained a lot of weight and felt bloated (took companion nutrients). I went to to doctor to find my TSH rose and my T4 and T3 levels actually dropped. I felt better 'mentally' but the incessant weight gain bothered me and of course, this forum, was totally unhelpful saying it was because I was eating badly even though I went to the gym 4 days a week and was eating normally.
So I took 1 grain of Armour a day and lost the bloat and am 10 pounds less. I have been taking about 7 mg of Iodine in the form of sea seasonings organic kelp granules as 1/4 a tea spoon is 3.5mg of iodine.
I felt better taking just the kelp. When I added the potassium Iodide that is when the bloating started and so I think potassium Iodide can cause issues for some people (I have heard this in other places). Just letting people know, PEACE.
