Hi HV-

I am still on 5 mg of Hydorcortisone. While my ultimate goal is to wean off of it, it is a very slow process and I'd like to learn how to manage it in the mean time.

I'll be fine with 2.5 in the AM and 2.5 in the afternoon, but something will change and all of a sudden I need more or less of the pill. I'm trying to figure out how and when the body needs to produce more cortisol so I can follow that with the medication.

Other than illnesses, when does cortisol typically rise? Does it rise/fall with ovulation, pms and menstration? What about pregnancy, does it rise during the full term? I notice a need to increase the medication during pms so I'm trying to figure out how this is related to the other hormones. I also plan to get pregnant soon and have read that high cortisol levels can affect the pregnancy so I want to make sure I take the proper dose and increase/decrease as the body normally would.

I know you are not for taking hydrocortisone (neither am I!) but I am on it now and I'd like to figure out how to stay somewhat sane while on it and while weaning off :).

Thanks for your help.
