When the common bile duct is blocked it often blocks the pancreatic duct and hampers the ability to digest foods. Also if a person is not producing enough hydrchloric acid the food won't be liquified and prepared for the digestive enzymes. Taking betaine HCl or HCl drops and pancreatic enzymes with meals may help.
