Re: HPV vaccine can prevent most anal cancers

"So, all boys 11-12 should get HPV vaccines to guard against anal cancer even though 70% of them will never engage in anal sex?"

Not really a sensible argument.  About 95% or more of them will engage in vaginal intercourse and HPV also causes cervical cancers.  Or, don't you care about females?

HPV vaccination has the potential to reduce cervical cancer deaths around the world by as much as two-thirds, and to prevent anal cancer in males and females. Gardasil can also prevent genital warts.

To vaccinate or not is not an easy decision and in most areas of the country (USA) it is still optional even though your governor tried to make it mandatory - for females, of course.

Long term effects?  How about wiping out small pox worldwide?  Polio is virtually eliminated in the USA.

Fear is the biggest hindrance to progress and fear is currently one of our largest causes of disease even though we are safer than at anytime in recorded history.
