Yes, I did go through that several years ago.
And no, I would not recommend it to anyone.
It's terribly painful and uuncomfortable, and the wound it makes is large.

As usual, always there is a way.

Try it. You've got mothing to lose.

Don't be foolish.
Do not do it.
They have been trained to say you "need" root canal surgery
even when the last thing you need is root canal surgery.

Your dentist's opinion is based a set of subjective symptoms you described to him. And on a dental X-ray
with a little bit of black and white discoloration that
is usually little or no significance at all.

In general they want to make money at your expense.
Root canal surgery is the first step of making BIG money at your expense. Not only it is a money-maker today (in your case), but it is in the next 10 years when the tooth will break and need additional fillings, which will break again and again until it will need a crown, which will break again and again until the root will have be extracted, at which time you will need a terribly expensive implant, and brand new crown and post.

Get a copy of the dental X-ray, and post it here.
Stop exposing your teeth to additional X-rays.
Get a couple of second opinions.
Try oil pulling.
Improve your dental hygiene.
Consider root canal surgery, but never actually do it.
Consider extraction, but never ever do it.
