I wasn't aware that animals don't have a soul, heart or feel compassion.

Because they do.

And they experience feelings, too. Have you ever owned a dog? A horse? Do you know about dolphins? I'm guessing not.

Humans also have instinct. It's the "gut feeling" we get. Most people these days are too out of tune to realize.
