Took me a while to realize this, but hopefully you can learn the lesson early on: You can't reason someone out of their religiosity.

There's a separate mental system that religion operates by, separate from logic.

This alternate system is the same system that will cause you to become overly attached to your treatment plan for "Adrenal Fatigue". By that I mean that when you experience relieving, gladdening health due to the therapy you apply for yourself, you will experience extremely fond feelings for the therapy. Then you will subconsciously fight against anything that vaguely threatens the image of greatness you have of the therapy.

This system is what Descartes was describing when he said "The heart has its reasons which reason knows nothing of."

This is not to say that this alternate system doesn't have its rules and that it's utterly incomprehensible. No, it has its reasons. They're just different from regular logic (though very similar). Tweet
