You are so right. But there is a way to get out of the dilemma. It is called ATA (attending the actual). This is a method which is practiced for self-realisation in non-duality/buddhism philosophy.
Attending the actual means that you just be with what is. You just observe without trying to judge and conceptualisation. In the beginning it seems a bit hard to do that but with a little training this will become quite naturally. When you invest a bit time in this practice you will see for yourself that the mind doesn't reinforce perpetual mental habits any more and by not reinforcing them these habits will vanish by itself, for this is the nature of mind, it just spins itself out like a flywheel and you get out of worry, anger and personal self-delusion...
Seems to me that this is a need for real healing to occur.
