Don't put it off, if you know you have mold take care of it as soon as possible! It grows fast and really affects your health.

Do you own or rent the home? Depending on rental terms your landlord ~should~ have testing done. Some landlords don't take mold issues as seriously as they should.

Unless your an expert, I think the only way to truly identify what type of mold you have, is to send samples to a lab.

I heard the home testing kits are not that good, especially for spore counts, so ended up hiring an expert to come take samples at the house I'd planned to rent. The results found three different types of mold and remediation was required, but the owner didn't do a proper job of remediating all the mold.

Sooo I refused to move in and broke the lease. The mold inspector told me that NOBODY should live in that house... And the owner already has new tenants lined up! I'm thinking of going to small claims court...
