Re: Crusted Swollen Lip

The cure was not really the vermilionectomy. The cure was the injections. I just posted a link since some might have a chronic infection in the minor salivary glands. I can see how the injection might help since it has some Antibiotic mixed with hydrocortisone ointment.

The 1971 article about the vermilionectomy was short, and the type was hard to read. I just posted the summary, which was basically the whole article. It did not mention the outcome of the patients who had the surgery. I did not post it to recommend the surgery, but to list a possible problem causing EC like chronic infection in the minor salivary glands. The article did not explain the cause of the chronic infection or more details.

I suppose a dentist/oral surgeon can find out if one has enlarged minor salivary glands or an infection in them. I do not know if anyone had a biopsy of the minor salivary glands.
