we chopped it them mashing everything with bit of salt like a paste, mix with some water (like a sauce) and drinking it this way or poor it over the food. its quit delicious :) 2-3 cloves with lets say 50-100 ml water according with your tolerance.
i would not mix it with anything especially like grapefruit or apple or...try 2 cloves the "mashed"way.
kcirla is right about the time...is more potent this way.
also there are at least 3 kind of garlic which differ in terms of potency. you can try a different "brand".
