Thank you for responding, Dr. Jeff. I'd like to get further clarification from you on the "locally grown" issue. I understand that people are thinking of organic/close to organic farming practices when they refer to locally grown foods. My own personal goal is to eat organic. In order to do that, I've been patronizing farmer's markets. The point I was trying to make is that I discovered there are hardly any local farmers that sell organic produce. What they have told me is that they do not spray unless they have to (which suggests there's no guarantee that local produce has not been exposed to chemicals). And if local farmers also use pesticides, what's the real value in obtaining food from them?
