I tried the Bepanthen before. It made my lips raw. I do not know if it works better for people with thick buildup...removing that thick buildup. When someone like me dos not have thick buildup, it seems to eat away at the skin. Lanolin might be better (as recommended by Dr. Oz) to prevent lip thinning and rawness in people who do not get the thick buildup.
I agree that it was more the regular cleaning of his mouth with mouthwash than moisturizer that healed his lips. I remember reading a tip about mixing coconut oil with clove oil as an antibacterial for lips.
