Re: What should I expect from gastroenterologist app?
Hi Paul,
I do hope this will work for you.At least now you know the name of your enemy!
I stopped taking anthelmintics at the end of August. As I was not seeing any evidence of anything else exiting or felt any different,I decided to stop and see how I felt.I didn't feel any worse.I thought after the amount I had taken for 4 months it was time for a change of direction for me.
As I have many gut issues I began to think and look at things I hadn't gone into depth with before.I am very interested in the fuctional medicine approach to health and am considering doing a one to one with a functional medicine doctor trained in the Kalish Method.
Female hormone problems(which I have),are linked to digestive problems.Adrenal fatigue causes problems with cortisol levels and female hormone levels and all of this can causes digestive issues like leaky gut,gut dysbiosis etc. This is a very simplified version. So I am considering getting all of these things tested and attacking these things as a whole package.I believe the
parasites were/are only one piece of my jigsaw.
I had my appointment with the gastroenterologist through the NHS at the end of September. After getting my blood pressure, height and weight taken as soon as I arrived I was optomistic. This was short lived.I waited an hour then I got to see a medical student, who went through a thorough history of my condition. When this was finished we were waiting on the doctor......two hours later and after running out of things to chat about to the student, the doctor enters.I lie down on the couch and get my intestine area examined by both.I had a little chat with the doctor, after she heard a condensed version of my history from the student.I told her about what blood tests I have had and the
parasite treatments and what I had exit me.Yes,she had that suprised look that doctors always have when you tell them!I told her about my very restrictive diet, because I can not tolerate many foods. After all of this she prints out a sheet for the fodmap diet!!!!I know it was from a website because I recognised it as the same one I had tried a year earlier. She also gave me a recipe with dates raisins etc for bowel movement.I was that hungry and fed up by this point I couldn't even be bothered to protest.I was told to make an app for a years time! This doctor is the top gastro in my city, the student told me.She lectures at the university, honestly, there is no hope.So after 4 hours I left, walking straight past the reception desk, not bothering to make an app for next year. They have since sent me one for May next year.I think I will keep it.I may have some questions for her by then.
Even though I am not treating for
parasites I still come to cz and read some posts and go on other forums aswell.I wish you well with your treatment, keep posting.I will post if and when I have made any progress.
