EC Origin?

I noticed something funny. Approximately a year ago, I allowed the nails on my feet to grow abnormally long. I pretty much never look at my feet. The only time I see my feet is when I cut the nails which is usually once a month or every few weeks. The only other times I could possibly "see" them is when I'm changing or taking a shower, the thing is, when I do those two things, I'm not wearing my glasses, and my eye sight is very poor. I remember wearing my socks and feeling a sharp pain, I dealt with it for a day, and when I pulled off my sock I noticed that one of the overgrown nails fell off and cut open my 2nd toe on my right foot. I immediately removed the nail and I just left my toe as it was. I continued as usual. A couple of months later, all of my toes are fine, except, the toe that was cut by one of my nails, it was extremely dry. Few months later, today, I look at it, I'm slightly shocked. When my EC lips dissolve, they are white, when they are overgrown, they turn yellowish. My toe, its ridiculously dry and looks and feels identical to the EC on my lips, only difference is, is the color. Its been left for so long, and when I feel my EC covered lips then that 1 toe, they feel identical. Now, I'm not sure what exactly to do. Maybe EC originates from an open wound, now I'm not sure what exactly caused the "EC" on my toe, the initial cut, or the fact that it was exposed.
