herbal remedies for depression

Hey guys, Ive had moderate deppression most of my life but only became aware of it when doctor prescribed "Paxil". It worked but as I was of very little money and no health insurance. The meds are too expensive and....I did not like the side effects.
Years later, after finding "Ginseng" seemed to work I had to stop using it since the markets Potency of the item was becoming weak. (already know the whys about this) Plus after reading some Chinese medicine pages..ginseng..was never meant to be taken for long periods of times..and only for older people.(since longterm use of it can cause ginseng withdrawal symptoms)
So I switched to "Tribulus extracts". This one specific herb really changed me completely. It balanced out hormones (supposedly) and gave me a feeling of well being. Not to mention a very good and strong libido. However, this doesn't last long and the body only has the benefits for bout 6 weeks. Then one has to lay off it for like 2 weeks..and then start back up.
So I googled other options and found the herbs..."Fenugreek and Maco extracts. Both say it can be done indefinitely and has the same balancing properties and higher libido constitutes as tribulus.(but without the 6 week use before rotating)Plus Ive read both give a slight induction of energy.
My question is.....has anyone tried these two herbal extracts? Any opinions?
