Well, there is an easy test with dosing to determine if you need HCL. You can get enzyme pills without HCL. Be careful of bromelain sensitivity however, it's common. A funny thing--whole grains, peas, mushrooms, and nuts are ALL VERY HIGH in glutamate. That's my #1 suspect now--high glutamate and a possible imbalance with GABA. I am avoiding wheat and oats, mushrooms, peas, broccoli, and cheese for a few weeks to see what happens with insomnia etc.
