Rifaximin is an orphan drug and Nitazoxanide is rarely used. Neither is absorbed enough to be considered for anything other than an intestinal issue. You can count on one finger the ones that have both Antibiotic and antiprotozoal activity and it often fails to cure protozoal infections. Bacteria and protozoans have differing physical structures and require different mechanisms to compromise their life cycles.
