Re: Lesson learnt the hard way!

I agree with you. I finally got rid of probie pills a few months ago (and no candida flare because of it, though I had feared I might). There was something that just wasn't working for me, and I couldn't figure it out. I read they are not the best idea when you still have leaky gut, which I was sure I still had, so I ditched them. I now get my probies strictly from food (yogurt, cottage cheese, raw sauerkraut, kimchee, miso). I think it's likely that some people who say they take probiotics and then get "die off" an hour or so later are actually getting sick from the probiotics, and other supps likely do the same thing if you have leaky gut (and besides, supps won't work if you are not actually digesting them). And, by the way, do not take HCL if you have leaky gut either, even though some say it helps heal leaky gut. I found out the hard way it doesn't, it just leaks out and makes you generally more acidic, which in turn fosters candida growth. Also DON'T take HCL if you have reflux. Learned that the hard way too. You really do not want to get a reflux episode after ingesting 3 or 4 acid pills. It is not only painful, but can cause serious esophageal damage. (PS, if you do get into such a situation and feel your esophagus is on fire, drink some plain unsweetened soy milk. That will neutralize it pretty much in a minute.)
