white stringy mucous is yeast (candida and als)- the brown looking strings are mucoid plaque: stuff that had been stuck into your bowel for ages and needed to be expelled. They usually come out during a bowel cleanse: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mucoid_plaque
