These articles when read in a vacuum lead to panic. anyone who has spent any time studying nutrition knows that when a person is deficient in Iodine AND selenium adding in Iodine alone can cause problems.
Articles like this do not take into account the persons overall nutritional status so they need to be taken with a grain of salt.
As with anything, one should not blindly jump into supplementation without looking at the big picture and have at least a basic understanding of the role the nutrients play. Unfortunately thats not what happens and why we see so many people here complaining about "issues" that arose after starting (usually half assed) supplementation.
