Candida, or something else?
Hi everybody, this is my first time posting in a medical forum. I'm a 38 yr old male, 6 foot, and usually weigh in around 135
pounds (I'm a skinny dude, and have weighed about the same since early high school).
Over the last few months I've had issues with my stool. It always turns the water yellow. The stool itself is usually medium brown, fluffy, and mucousy (yellow). When I flush the toilet it completely desetagrates. I thought it was just a hiccup with my bowls and thought it would pass...it didn't, and still hasn't.
About three weeks ago I started having mild cramping in my abdomin, and mild muscle fatigue. I went to see my general doctor, who was scheduled almost three weeks out, so I saw the nurse praticioner. I also had a small hemeroid that I'd been meaning to get checked out, so I talked to her about that as well. Turns out she focused only on the hemeroid and sent me to a general surgeon. A week later, I went to the general surgeon thinking he was informed of my other symptoms, but he only knew of the hemeroid. He was kind enough to feel around my gut, and orderd a blood test and an X-ray. Been a week and a half, still waiting for those results.
Over this time my cramping became slightly worse. Still mild to medium pain. My wife was researching my symptoms, and told me to go look at my tongue. Sure enough, I had candida fairly thick starting about mid tongue and back. She put me on a candida diet (first time I've been on any kind of diet in my life), and ordered supplements (Candigone). Almost immediately the candida reseeded, but my cramping became worse with a slight warm ichiness to it. Muscle fatigue also worsened, specifically in my legs. Constantly feeling like I've walked up a few flights of stairs.
I'm 9 days into the diet. The cramping has lessened, but muscle fatigue is still heavy, and my stool is completely unchanged. I have some brain fog, and have a hard time focusing. I've also lost a few pounds, which is disconcerting due to the fact I can't afford to loose weight. Yesterday I noticed the candida on my tongue worsened, and looks almost as bad as when I began the diet.
I'm seeing the nurse practitioner again on Monday (doctor was over two weeks out), and have an appointment with my GI March 2nd. The wait times are making me anxious and stressed. I definitely don't feel good, and I'm worried it's much more than just candida.
Is everything above normal candida symptoms?
