A patient of mine with high AntiTPO-Abs is taking 100 MGs iodural/lugol a day for for the last 6 months, together with selenium and all other required nutrients. His last readings came problematic and are now as follows:
T3 free: 2.9 pmol/L (down from 4.2 before starting Iodine)
T4 free: 3.4 pmol/L (down from 12.4 before iodine)
Thyroglobulin: 63 ng/ml
AntiTPO-Ab: 531 IU/ml (up from 238 before iodine)
TSH has skyrocketed from about 10 to 138, which I know is expected on Iodine supplementation, But the rest of the results made me somewhat shaky as the fast Abs increase is accompanies the low T4/3.
Also. the man had none of the Iodine associated symptoms since he started supplementing it 6 month ago, but does have lots of stress in life lately.
I would like some reassurance here, what can you guys make out of this lab work picture in general, and with regards to the supplementation in particular?
