No, that's not what I really meant. I don't know if I can explain it. Some people are very beaten down by the enemy of their souls. These are the people that would reason like that. Those who think they can't make it in Christianity. Those people already believe lies from the enemy in order for them to be in this mental state. Your view of hell may be a cop out for them. Catholics believe in a temporary hell too. I think that they think we all have to go through it. I'm not sure on that one. They call theirs purgatory.
There are plenty of people that would still go on seeking God even believing hell is temporary. It's just those who are messed up in their thinking that it would hurt. They may turn to that reasoning instead of putting forth the effort to seek God.
