Anyone help me? Going crazy over iodine calculations?

Question about making your own Lugol's Iodine:

First of all, taking Iodine has completely changed my life. Temp 98.0 after being BELOW 97 for years, more energy, etc. I am after 10 weeks, feeling flu-ish, maybe it's the halide detox symptoms.

I could use some clarification on making your own iodine. On DYI, Andrew Fletcher's instructions are for 4 grams water, appr. 33 grams of potassium iodide, and appr. 17grams of Iodide crystals to make a 10% solution.

However, on another site (actually several), they say in order to make 5% solution, to add 88 grams of potassium Iodide and 44 grams of Iodide crystals to 80% of, or sometimes even a whole quart of water?

According to Andrew Fletcher's specifications, wouldn't 8 oz of water make 5% ( 2x 4oz?).

How could these calculation be so dramatically different?

I purchased lab grade ingredients made in America, hopefully the purity is good.

Thanks in advance.

Stephanie
