When I leave my lips alone, the skin grows back, but it doesn't peel like it normally would after 3 days. It needs to be moisturized by aquaphor or another moisturizer to help grow the skin back or else it would die.
GIAB healed the first layer of skin but unfortunately I didn't allow it to heal the second and third layer. The skin that's growing back now is the second layer (epidermis). I can easily heal it now by moisturizing it. Most people with ec still needs to heal the first layer (dermis). This explains why aquaphor doesn't work for them and why aquaphor works for others (they managed to heal the first skin layer somehow). Why aquaphor doesn't heal the first layer is a mystery to me.
This is just my theory though.
If you're gonna apply GIAB, then keep it on until you're lips are completely healed.
