I don't think the problem is with accumulated metals.
The problem is with allergy.
Once you become allergic to nickel, and lets say you are extremely sensitive, you may actually react to nickel in your environment, like door knobs, kitchen ware, music instruments, weight lifting handles, machines, tools, scissors, spoons, knifes, etc..
And, of course, if you are still wearing orthodontic braces, and you have peeling lips .... the first thing to consider would be nickel or copper allergy or maybe allergy to some other metals or materials used.
Orthodontic braces are made of non-magnetized materials of different types, including plastic, metal, ceramic, or a combination. They can be
gold-plated, and some retainers can even glow in the dark.
