I'm on the 10 th day of my battle with T Solium infestation. Started with 2 tablets of albendazole a day, increased to 3 third day, seems to work but require a long process. Meantime, those worms are still doing things and laying eggs inside.
Tried piperazine, knocks them out temporarily but comes back with vengeance. Actually triggered scattering and Cysticercosis on the fourth day.
Visited infection disease specialist 7th day, had to beg to get 1 days dose of pyranquantel. Also cost a bomb in Singapore. Meantime, the doctors think you're crazy cos ' parasites stays in the intestines'.
Pyranquantel works, at least in my case. These things do acquire resistance to drugs depending on what they use in the pig farms of that region i believe. Can feel them coil up to minimise skin surface contact. This I think is the reason why prime real estate in the human body are areas where blood or mucousal flow are minimal, such as the sinus cavity. The guy residing there can coil up in there while reaching into the brain when it needs to feed, not to mention producing of eggs.
I believe combining albendazole and pyranquantel is the most effective, there was a research i read about this. Albendazole can be easily acquired in Singapore. Problem is, I still can find a place to get subsequent doses of pyranquantel. You will have very little chance with doctors, most will think you are delirious.
Please, anyone, contact me if you know how I can get hold of praziquantel.
