Can Master Cleanse hurt your metabolism? And does anyone have actual evidence that one loses fat?

Hi.

I've done the Master-Cleanse 3 times before - June, 2002, January 2003 and june or July 2004. My last Master-Cleanse was short (7-8 days), but the one before that was long (like 21 days).
I think after the last one, I felt that it wasn't really beneficial, and possibly damaging.

But now I have decided to do it again and I'm on day 2. I want to do it to clean my system, and I have this weight that I put on (about 4 months after my last Master-Cleanse that I have never yet taken off (that was in the end of 2004). I'm hoping this might jump start my metabolism - though sometimes I wonder if my metabolism got screwed up in the first place from doing the cleanse.

As I'm reading up about the MC again, I'm finding that everyone claims that you lose "fat." I have a scale that gives fat percentage, and I looked back over my records, and the fat percentage DID NOT CHANGE AT ALL, though there was anything from 8-15 pounds of weight loss.

Does anyone think this can wreak havoc with one's metabolism? I like doing the cleanse, but I have to admit, I'm not at total peace with it.
