Re: Something to ponder as you fall asleep

When Christ comes into the life of a true believer, his heart is changed. There is a change within that only He can make. The old sinful nature is now dead, and a new man (as in person, not gender) is born. Such the phrase "born again". The desire to please God surpasses the desire to commit sin. Yes, we still do things we shouldn't do, things we know are wrong. But when we do the Holy Spirit deals with us. We feel it as guilt. And God forgives.

So answer your question, a true believer will not do the things you speak of. Not because the Bible says not to, and not out of fear of not being saved. But because they have been changed within. They are truly born again.

And the sermons of which you speak are being preached to those who have already been saved. They are to help us live our lives the way Christ would have us to live them. The majority of the New Testament is also a guide for Christians. Being saved is so simple, there is no need to devote pages upon pages to the "how" of it.

"That is thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" Romans 10:9

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" Romans 10:13
