Re: What do you guys think of my friend's suggestions re: Candida?

Sounds like reasonable and helpful advice. Most candida sufferers are said to be low in stomach HCl, so taking several capsules with meals is often a good idea. Sufficient stomach HCl, pancreatic enzymes, and liver bile are all necessary to prevent and kill GI parasites. If any one of the three is low, parasites (including candida) have an opening to live, if not thrive. I tested somewhat low on enzymes, with liver OK, so I take a digestive enzyme supplement as well. A high-potentcy multivitamin/mineral is usually indicated in literature as well since several vits/mins play roles in immune function, cellular repair, etc. Add glutamine/glutamic acid to repair leaky guts, and cysteine/cystine to detoxify the body of yeast toxins, both of which are found in quantity in many high-protein foods such as nuts, seeds, protein powders, etc. Some experts say that more probiotic strains are worse, not better, since they can effectively compete. Acidolphilus and bifidum are the main inhabitants of the small and large intestines, respectively. In addition to supporting the intestines/body, you need to KILL the candida, so antibacterial/antifungal herbs and/or physician-prescribed Antibiotics are often appropriate, if not outright necessary. Literature states that GI candida can require anywhere from 3 months to a year to cure.
